Welcome to Freedom River Adventures and thanks for visiting our web page.  We are a back country cabin rental and B&B located 2 miles outside the tiny burg of Elk City, Idaho.  Elk City is a unique destination in its own right, being one of the last “end of the road” wilderness locations accessible by automobile in the lower 48. We are so remote the local T-shirt reads:

In the middle of all this outdoor seclusion and beauty we have available one main house (our home) with two bedrooms, each with a private bath (bed and breakfast) and two turn key cabins.  The brown cabin and B&B are equipped with satellite TV, satellite internet and land line phone.  The blue cabin has TV with a DVD player only. (No cell service is available here).

We are truly an outdoor enthusiast’s wilderness paradise.  Our MISSION is to provide a quality product for a reasonable price so you and your family/group have a comfortable place to relax and re-cooperate after a busy day of playing in the great outdoors.  Our GOAL is for every guest to have fun and leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.

We are located in the middle of the NEZ PERCE National Forest.  On the drive in you will be enthralled by mountain vistas, high prairies, coniferous forests, roaring rivers and generally unequaled natural beauty.  There are two wilderness areas, mountain peaks to 9,000′, crystal clear streams, abundant wildlife , hot springs and old growth cedar forests nearby.

Our property borders the National Forest that transitions into wilderness areas.  You can literally walk out the back door, head east and not cross another paved road till you get to Montana about 80 miles away.  There is wildlife all over; deer, elk, bear, turkey, wolves and moose.  There is a river/creek in the front yard about 150 yards out the front door.  You can fish there or drive about 20-30 minutes and fish the south fork of the Clearwater for trout, steelhead or chinook depending on the time of year.  Red River hot springs is about a 40 minute drive.

Here at Freedom River Adventures, you can forget about your daily troubles and escape to a simpler life while enjoying natures stress reducing splendor. Short of specialty items, (you can purchase food items at the general store), all you need to pack is clothing appropriate for the season, a spirit of adventure and a big smile.

We own an airplane hangered at Elk City “International”, and enjoy flying into back country airstrips. If you fly Idaho back country, Elk City is a great destination. We are located 2 miles northeast of town and provide transportation to and from the airport for our guests.

Freedom River Adventures is for everyone who enjoys outdoor activities; hunters, fishermen, photographers, trail riding, or just exploring the wilderness.  If you are a single and in need of a quiet place, a couple in need of privacy or a family/group looking for a place to hold a reunion, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Everyone should keep in mind that although we have a small medical clinic in town, realistically medical care is over an hour away.  This is why we emphasize playing SAFE and planning accordingly if you have medical issues.   Access in winter months will likely require 4 wheel drive.
